Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation
Most women notice a change to their vaginal health at some point. This may occur subtly after childbirth, and may increase with age. According to statistics, vaginal atrophy affects nearly 80% of post-menopausal women. This means diminished sexual pleasure, and it can also mean difficulty with stress urinary incontinence, itching, and, in some instances, pelvic organ prolapse.
What Is Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation?
Historically, vaginal atrophy and its unpleasant symptoms has been a problem addressed only through surgery. Physicians would have to excise and tighten tissue along the vaginal canal and at the vaginal opening in order to improve tightness. Laser vaginal rejuvenation is a non-surgical method that works with the body’s natural healing mechanism. In so doing, this type of treatment restores more than tightness, it also encourages improved lubrication and overall function (including bladder control).
da Vinci Surgery
The da Vinci System provides your surgeon with a 3D HD® view inside your body. da Vinci has special wristed instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human wrist.
Benefits of da Vinci System
As a result, da Vinci enables your surgeon to operate with enhanced vision, precision and control.
Your doctor controls the da Vinci System, which translates his or her hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside your body. This technology allows for virtually scarless results.
Contraception
At Columbus Women’s Care our Gynecologists will discuss all forms of contraception methods during your visit. The types of Contraceptive Methods include: Condoms, Oral Contraceptives, Vaginal Ring, and The Intrauterine Device (IUD).
Advantages of birth control:
- Pregnancy prevention
- Decrease menstrual bleeding
- Minimize menstrual cramps
What Birth Control Methods Are the Most Effective?
IUDs, Subdermal Implants, and Surgical Tubal Sterilization are some of the most effective birth control methods.
Fibroids
What Are Uterine Fibroids?
Uterine fibroids, also called leiomyomas or myomas are non cancerous growths that develop from the muscle tissue of the uterus. They vary in size, shape, and location within the uterine lining. They may be present inside the uterus, on its outer surface or within its wall, or attached to it by a stem-like structure. There are women that may have only one fibroid or many of varying sizes. The growth pattern of fibroids could vary as they may remain very small for a long time and suddenly grow rapidly, or grow slowly over a number of years.
Who is Likely to Have Fibroids?
Fibroids are more prevalent in women between the ages of 30 and 40, however they can occur in any age. African American women have leading cases in fibroids in comparison to white women, and also seem to occur in younger ages.
Pap Smear
What Is a Pap Smear?
A pap smear is a medical test to see if a woman has developed pre-cancerous or cancerous cells on her cervix.
What Is the Difference Between a Pap Smear and a Well Woman’s Visit?
In a well woman exam, the provider will review your medical history, surgical history, medications, and allergies. They will also conduct a physical exam which will include a bimanual exam (checking the size of the uterus and ovaries). We perform a pap smear is during the physical exam if it is warranted.

Botox Columbus OHBOTOX is one of the world’s most famous brand names. It has been around for decades treating conditions such as involuntary eyelid spasms, but in 2002 when the FDA approved BOTOX for treatment of wrinkles on the upper third of the face, it became famous.
There’s a reason — it works. BOTOX relaxes the muscles that form wrinkles around the eyes, between the brows, and on the forehead. We offer BOTOX at Columbus Women’s Care.
What Is BOTOX?
BOTOX is made from the botulinum toxin type A, the same bacteria that cause botulism. But scientists studying the bacteria in the 1950s discovered an interesting phenomenon — when a very minute amount of the botulinum toxin was injected into a muscle it temporarily stopped the muscle from contracting. This proved useful when addressing certain conditions where muscles needed to be controlled, such as eyelid spasms. Those uses have expanded to treatment of migraines, excessive underarm sweating, even overactive bladders.
But when BOTOX was approved for aesthetic use, things got crazy. Every year since 2002, it has been the world’s most popular cosmetic procedure, surgical or non-surgical, worldwide.
The neck and chin frame the face. When excess fatty tissue lives in the submental area, what we call a double-chin is created. If you’ve noticed that accumulation of fat beneath your chin, chances are you feel more than a little disturbed by how this has affected your appearance. The double-chin has long been problematic for men and women of all ages. In today’s selfie-obsessed society, there is no time for submental fullness and the challenge it poses to our photographic poses.
If you’d like to look your best at every angle, consider what Kybella can do for you.
What is Kybella?
Kybella is the injectable solution that is formulated with deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring chemical that is used to metabolize fat in the body. The FDA has approved Kybella for the reduction of submental fullness, or the double-chin.
Minimally Invasive Surgery – With traditional laparoscopy, your surgeon operates through a few small incisions using long instruments and a tiny camera to guide doctors during surgery. Your uterus may also be removed through a single incision in the belly button.
Hysterectomy
During an abdominal hysterectomy (open surgery), your uterus is removed through a large open incision. The incision must be large enough for your surgeon to see your organs and fit his/her hands and instruments inside your body.
An open surgery incision can be horizontal or vertical. Many women are familiar with the horizontal incision (also called a “bikini” incision) since it is commonly used for a C-section.
IUD
Benefits of IUDs
An IUD stands for Intrauterine Contraceptive Device. The IUD is effective once inserted and lasts anywhere from 3-10 years depending on the specific device. Hormonal IUDs alleviate many period symptoms that patients commonly complain of (decreases bleeding frequency and amount typically).
Types of IUDs
At Columbus Womne’s Care, we offer both hormonal and non-hormonal IUDs. These include:
Mirena – Mirena® is a hormone-releasing IUD that is over 99% effective at preventing pregnancy for as long as you want, for up to 5 years. Mirena can be used whether or not you have had a child. It also treats heavy periods in women who choose intrauterine contraception.
Liletta – LILETTA® (levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system) 52 mg is a hormone-releasing system placed in your uterus to prevent pregnancy for as long as you want for up to 4 years.
Paragard – PARAGARD is an intrauterine copper contraceptive device that is placed in your uterus to prevent pregnancy for up to 10 years. This is the non-hormonal IUD.
Chemical Peels | Columbus Women's Care OH
Getting rid of the dull outer layer of our skin is the goal in many skin treatments. It’s not as if your body isn’t doing this on its own — our skin fully sheds and grows new cells about once every month — but it’s nice to give it a little help. At Columbus Women’s Care, we offer various chemical peels that speed up your skin’s exfoliation and give your skin a radiant, healthy glow.
You don’t think of it this way, but our skin is the largest organ in the human body. Unlike just about all of the other organs, however, the skin is constantly exposed. It takes a beating from the sun, wind, and the environment. This abuses the epidermis, the skin’s outer layer, leaving it dull and damaged. To remove these cells, the skin is constantly shedding, clinically known as exfoliation.
Chemical peels simply give your exfoliation process a boost. Peels remove layers of skin so that younger, healthier skin cells can show themselves. In the process, age spots, acne scars, fine lines, dead skin cells, and other imperfections are peeled away. The purpose of a peel is to erase imperfections and improve skin tone and texture.
Chemical peels aren’t new. Cleopatra is thought to have been the first proponent. She used sour milk as the peeling agent. Like Cleopatra, we use lactic acid as one of the peeling agents in our chemical peels at Columbus Women’s Care.
At Columbus Women’s Care, we use chemical peels to improve a variety of skin conditions:
Sun damage
Fine lines and wrinkles
Texture issues
Pigmentation problems
Age spots
Acne and acne scars
Freckles
Scaly patches
Chemical peels are not meant to address issues such as sagging skin or deep lines and creases.
Dermal Fillers are a collection of gel and paste-like substances that are injected into facial tissue to give a more youthful appearance. This is done by placing injections at various depths of the tissue. As a result, the dermal fillers, decrease the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and compensate for bone loss.
Pure hyaluronic acid fillers are made in a lab and manufactured or cross-linked to have a certain plumping effect. Additionally, hyaluronic acid is naturally found in humans so an allergic reaction is rare. This is why Columbus Women’s Care prefers fillers that contain hyaluronic acid.
In truth, anyone can benefit from dermal fillers. However, patients must have appropriate expectations. Dermal fillers will not provide you with a “facelift” but instead a refreshed face. If patients have severe bone loss in the face or deep rhytids, wrinkles, they may require more aggressive treatments.
Dermal Filler Treatment Areas
The most common and FDA approved facial treatment areas include:
Lips
Cheeks
Nasolabial folds or laugh lines
Smokers lines
Hands
There are off-label uses for dermal fillers that include the tear troughs and other non-facial areas.
The Juvederm line of products can be broken into two groupings. The main difference between them is the FDA approved duration of the product and the way the products are cross-linked. The results for Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus typically last from 6 months to one year.
Juvederm Ultra is the classic preparation that can be placed all over the face and gives the patient a truly beautiful “juicy” lips hence the phrase “juicy Juvederm.“
Juvederm Ultra Plus has a bit more body so it will give more projection wherever it is placed.
Volbella, Vollure, and Voluma are the newer Juvederm line of products. Each filler offers a different density and is cross-linked with hyaluronic acid uniquely so they can last longer than other fillers.
Volbella is for fine lines and wrinkles and is especially useful for those present around the mouth. Some prefer this for their lips if they just want hydration versus fullness
Vollure is designed to be injected more deeply and into more severe lines that other Juvederm products. This filler tends to stay where it is placed versus spreading but still remains soft. Vollure results last about 18 months.
Voluma is on the more expensive end of the spectrum but has some of the longest lasting results. This injection is the thickest, strongest gel of this category and makes a beautiful cheek that can last up to 2 years.
Restylane
Restylane is a family of fillers that vary by FDA indication, “thickness,” and ability to lift and spread under the skin. These fillers produce results that last up to one year.
Restylane L is the classic workhorse that professionals can inject pretty much anywhere in the face. It causes minimal lift but smooths wrinkles beautifully without attracting too much water to the injection site.
The newer fillers, Restylane Defyne & Refyne, are designed to move with the natural lines of the face around mouth and checks.
Restylane Silk is designed for fine lines and is placed very superficially in the skin.
Restylane Lyft is a remake of the old Perlane-L filler and is in competition with Volluma.
