Andrew R. Mullendore, DDS, MD

Dr. Mullendore began life as an Indiana Hoosier and lived the first half of his life in and around the greater Indianapolis area. Life changed after he attended Miami University (of Ohio), falling in love with the beauty of the great state of Ohio, not to mention meeting his native Ohio wife! Dr. Andrew Mullendore began his professional education at Miami of Ohio, where he graduated Cum Laude with a BA in Zoology and was a member of the National Honor Society. His college experience was not entirely academic. He swam on the Miami University Varsity Swim Team and received an athletic scholarship. As an Indiana native, Dr. Mullendore was consequently accepted into Indiana University School of Dentistry. Excelling in dental school, he graduated with distinction in 2003, ranked 5th in his class, and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. In the year following graduation from dental school, he completed a General Practice Dental Residency at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. With a strong interest in oral surgery and medicine, Dr. Mullendore was accepted into the University of Missouri-Kansas City Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency, a 6-year dual-degree program in 2004. He received a Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2010. During the 6-year dual-degree program, he also attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, and earned his Medical Degree, graduating Cum Laude. Dr. Mullendore subsequently joined a group practice in Columbus, Ohio. It was there that he was introduced to Dr. Douglas Von Kaenel, and the vision of East Columbus Oral Surgery Specialists began. Dr. Mullendore is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has both a dental and medical license to practice in the State of Ohio. He is certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support and is highly trained in providing conscious sedation, intravenous sedation, and general anesthesia for both children and adults. He is a member of The American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Hocking Valley Dental Society (Past President), and The American Medical Association. When not caring for patients, Dr. Mullendore spends the majority of his time with his wife, Sarah, and their four children, Alex, Isaac, Evan, and Olivia. Dr. Mullendore’s other passion is anything and everything related to Ironman Triathlons. He has completed 2 full Ironman distance races and 5 half Ironman distance races, and many marathon and ultra-distance races. He hopes and plans to compete for life.

Douglas A. Von Kaenel, DDS

“Growing up I was terrified of going to the dentist until I met a compassionate dentist who understood my fears and truly provided pain free dentistry. I have developed a reputation as a “gentle” oral surgeon and many of my patients travel from all over Ohio just to receive my care and that makes me feel good about the treatment that I provide.” – Dr. Von Kaenel Dr. Douglas Von Kaenel grew up a Buckeye. He was born and raised in Marion, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Chemistry from Wittenberg University. He not only excelled in the classroom but he also played four years of college football where he was an all conference player. He went on to received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University in 2002. He then completed a four year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at the world renowned Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. After he finished his residency program in 2006, he spent the next three years serving as an oral surgeon in the United States Navy. In 2009, after completing his military service, he joined a large group practice in Columbus, Ohio where he became highly regarded amongst patients and referring dentists. It was there he was introduced to Dr. Andrew Mullendore and the vision of East Columbus Oral Surgery Specialists began. Dr. Von Kaenel is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support and is highly trained in providing conscious sedation, intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association and the WD Miller Local Dental Society. He partakes in continuing education courses above and beyond what is required in order to provide the highest and most up to date care for his patients. Dr. Von Kaenel and his wife, Allison, have six children: Cole, Kaia, Quinn, Kenna, Campbell and Cameron. He is a sports enthusiast and loves Ohio State Football and the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Alyssa Loparich, DDS

East Columbus Oral Surgery & Facial Cosmetic & Skin Center would like to introduce our new associate Dr. Alyssa Loparich, DDS. Dr. Loparich is a proud Ohioan, born and raised in Cleveland. After graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The Ohio State University, she went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from NYU College of Dentistry in New York City. During her time in the ‘Big Apple’, Dr. Loparich established her love and interest in procedures beyond the scope of general dentistry. She, therefore, chose to continue her education and training, completing a four-year residency program in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery through NYU Langone, Bellevue Hospital Center, and the Manhattan VA Medical Center. Despite her love for the city, Dr. Loparich was excited to return home to Ohio. Dr. Loparich is a board-eligible oral surgeon that practices full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including wisdom tooth extraction, dental implant placement, bone grafting, pre-prosthetic surgeries, orthodontic exposures, and non-invasive facial cosmetics (Botox®/fillers). She additionally has a special interest in orthognathic surgery and jaw reconstruction, for which she is well-versed in the application of computer-guided virtual surgical planning and the use of custom surgical plates. Dr. Loparich is highly trained in both adult and pediatric anesthesia and is licensed in administering conscious sedation, intravenous sedation, and general anesthesia. She holds active certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Trauma Life Support. She is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, and Ohio Dental Association. Dr. Loparich currently resides in the Columbus area with her French Bulldog, Luna, while her husband, Pasquale, completes a surgical fellowship in Oklahoma. She enjoys traveling (despite her fear of flying), frequenting Fox in the Snow, spending time with family, and is an avid escape room enthusiast.
